Weekend Happenings

And just like that, it is Sunday afternoon. Kids are napping, the kitchen smells like Christmas, laundry is half-way done and  my house is semi-cleanish. The definition of perfect these days. Time for a little weekend recap.
Friday evening the kids had their first Christmas party together at Miss Nancy's! Getting a picture of them sitting still is impossible and will always be impossible. But we try....and we laugh at the results!
Em and Aug are absolutely spoiled at Nancy's. The love she has for those kids is so special. Emery told Miss Nancy' she loved her the other day and if I am not careful, Nancy might take the number one spot on August's favorite list. Doug and I feel so lucky to have our kids be happy and loved each day when they are away from us. Nancy got each kid a special present. Can you tell that Em was a little excited to open the first present of the holiday season?
And can you tell that she LOVES her new Care Bear? Sunshine hasn't left her side since the party. If every present gets this reaction we are going to have quite the Christmas!
It was so funny--if the kids wanted a toy or needed a drink or a diaper change or a hug, guess who they went to....Nancy! Not the Moms or the Dads haha. Poor Nancy's job is never done!
Saturday we bundled up and braved the weather (and the crowds) and finished our Christmas and grocery shopping.
And we are officially done shopping....now I need to wrap. And wrap and wrap.
August and Emery were little angels which made the process so much easier. Doug and I decided we the kids needed a treat. Emery's favorite treat is "fries and chicky nuggets with sauce" so McDonald's it was!
We made it home for quick naps and decided to keep on trucking. We went to early church and headed on out to Grove for supper. We may have invited ourselves.....
It felt like we had not seen Doug's parents in forever and Emery is always in need of some "Mamaw Susie and PaPa Sammpy" time.
Emery and Grandpa are quite the pair. She just giggles when she is with him. Just look at this picture. Grandpa thought it would be a good idea to teach her how to put a spoon on her nose. I can still hear the giggles.
We couldn't believe it stuck on that little button nose of hers!
To crazy peas in a pod.

Today we stayed in jammies. We made messes and cleaned them up (and put that schedule on repeat.) During naps I "deep" cleaned--as in actually took the time to sweep and wipe down the outside of the refrigerator. You know, the really hard stuff. Doug has worked outside (since it is in the 50's and five days away from Christmas) and we have no plans except for baths this evening.

A two day work week is ahead of us and then the most wonderful time of the year.
Happy Sunday!

  1. I get so excited to see the blogs especially the pictures. The kids are just so loved and happy. They are such good kids you can take them anywhere and be able to enjoy it. Looks like a good time was enjoyed at Miss Nancy's. So thankful for a good babysitter that loves the kids. Looking forward to enjoying Christmas with you all.
