End of June
Where did June go?
Am I the only one asking this question as we enter a new month today? July is so fun for us--the 4th, Em's b-day, our ten year anniversary, lots of hot days perfect for the pool. But I am a little sad that June is done. Luckily, we ended June on lots of fun notes. None of them I want to forget. I have been dying to take my crew to the St. Louis zoo, and that was the plan for last weekend until Mother Nature had a different idea. Its been raining for years here, so we decided to still go to St. Louis but for some inside fun. The Magic House! I knew we had been there twice and was surprised the kids didn't seem to really remember it. Then I looked it up on my blog and realized Bennett was younger than Theo is now the last time we went. No wonder their memories were foggy! We got there when it opened and left when it closed and had so much fun the whole time.
We promised Em that we would take her to the arts and crafts area first the next time we go because that is her jam. She didn't get near enough time there, but the girl would never complain and was happy to play with her brothers all day. She also would never complain because the day ended with her favorite....lots and lots of ice cream.
August Samuel loves a hard hat. Who knew? He would have worn one all day.
Bennett was my favorite to watch because everything excited him so much. Most of the day was him trying to keep up and not wanting to miss out on any fun.
Theo was his usual angel baby self. He didn't make a peep the whole day; it is not lost on Doug and I how easy this little boy is.
Oh...and he doesn't just look like his big sis. He has her taste buds too.
Nana had the weekend off, so we invited her to the Magic House too. Somewhere there is picture in this exact spot taken the last time we visited; they don't fit on your lap for very long. Clearly the Magic House did not disappoint plus we can still go to the zoo! Put it on the July to-do list.
These last few weeks had a couple of firsts for us. Auggie had his very first sports camp--Bulldog Basketball! I was all nervous for him--I spent the days leading up to it reminding him that he would know the coach, that he would have lots of friends there, reassuring him that he was a great little basketball player. He walked in without so much as a hug or wave goodbye on the first day...good thing I was so nervous. He loved everyday, taught Bennett and I how to box out, and was sad that it was over. Next up...soccer camp!
Emery Kayt had her very first swim meet last weekend. I think Doug and I, the boys and all the grandparents were just as excited as she was. She was in the very first relay to start the day and lost during a photo finish. We didn't care that she lost...it was so exciting!! Today she brought home her ribbons from the meet and just smiled as she showed them off. She swims absolutely beautifully and now just needs to work on a little bit of speed (aka diving of the blocks). I would have loved swimming for a swim team when I was her age, so I am very thankful that she is getting this experience.
Speaking of swimming, I finally got to the Newton Pool last week. My favorite place in the summer. We had Hannah J, Paisley and Alayna with us too. The more the merrier! Theo is a little water baby, Em is a mermaid, Bennett is content in his own little water land and Auggie swims in the shallow looking for sink toys the entire time. I don't think I have ever seen him so tired. I am hoping July brings us lots of pool time.
Yesterday we finished up June with one other first. We went to a trampoline park with the Probsts and Mammosers! A trampoline park has always been on the fun to-do list, but we had just never tried it. After yesterday I can confidently say that we will be back.
