Excuses-Excuses!

Well I haven't blogged in.....oh.......in about forever. Before you get mad at me (or quit following the blog) give me a chance to explain myself. I have to admit, I think I have a pretty good excuse or five ha!

Where do I begin?? It all really started 12 weeks ago when Doug moved back home and I "single-mommed" it during the week. ("Single-mommed" is totally a word right?) Doug loved (and is loving) his new job and Emery and I fell into a pretty good groove eventually. It was hard though. But I atleast had the babe-- I do not know how Doug did it honestly. I think sometimes I missed him more just thinking about how much he missed Emery. He did it for us and I love him for that. Doug and Em have been reunited for a couple of weeks now---but that has meant I am the one missing out on precious Emery Kayt time.

Six. Sleeps. That is how many nights I have had to be away from my girl. (Not six nights in a row---there is NO WAY I could have done that.....) But now with a smile on my face I can officially say that tonight will be my last night away. Mommy's coming home:)

Back to my excuses for not blogging:

#1. As previously mentioned, it has just been Em and I for awhile. YOU try blogging with a ten month old crawling around. I like to think that I can do it all---but I had to prioritize:)

#2. We sold our house. Which really means that I have been living with an air mattress and packed boxes for about two weeks now. Come to think of it.....I am technically homeless tonight and have to stay with a friend. My suitcase and I have gotten to be great friends. I hate it.

#3. We moved into a duplex. Now, do not get me wrong, it is a really nice place with larger rooms than our house. BUT we had gotten kind of used to our three bedrooms (instead of two), two car garage, and full basement. Let's just say storage has been a little tricky.....

#4. Even though we sold the house and officially moved, I have still had a school year to finish. This is where the six nights away from Emery comes in. This also means that I have made the three hour drive home or to school six times now. Fun. I never want to drive again after tomorrow.

#5. This list has been pretty gloomy, so I think we need to end on a positive note: I excepted a new teaching position! I will be teaching at Aspire High School in Effingham coming this fall and am super pumped about it. The school is actually apart of the Alternative Education Program and will be A LOT different from where I have been teaching. I am ready for the new challenge! God has blessed Doug and I both with great jobs and opportunities and I am so glad this was all apart of his plan!

So those are my excuses as to why I have not been blogging. We have been a little busy and I never thought these 12 weeks apart from Doug would end.......but the end is totally in sight now. Tomorrow evening I will be home to stay--no more packing--no more suitcases--no more nights alone. I am going to be home!

So bring on the much needed summer vacation! I hope to document Em's adventures--so check back soon:)

  1. Yeah the journey God has led you on will be completed tomorrow. What a good time PaPa and I had in taking care of Emery today! She is such a delight. Can't begin to praise God enough for bringing you all through this time of separation and transition. It has been a great sacrifice in the time you each had to be separated from each other and precious Em but also shows the depth of love you have for one another. It was so amazing to see God at work in your lives as you were able to click off every box on your "need" list for your move HOME. God has provided your every need and I pray His continued guidance as He leads you into your future back HOME. God is good!
