Our Christmas~2014

This little smiling face says it all. Even though Emery was sick (and is now veryyyy sleepy) we have had the best Christmas yet. To see the joy and happiness in a little one's eyes makes the holidays so special. Emery is so so loved and I am pretty sure the little stinker knows it. She has shown Doug and I that Christmas is not about the money spent or how many presents you get to unwrap (seeing as how Emery unwrapped a gift and than went straight back to an old toy to play with) but it is about being with the ones you love and being thankful and happy in that moment and all year.

The rest of the post will be mostly pictures and comments. Doug and I want to remember this Christmas forever--and all of the Christmases to come. It really is the happiest season of all!

Doug, Em and I celebrated our Christmas together on Christmas Eve. We got Emery a slide and the girl was a pro at it in no time! The slide is now a permanent fixture in our living room ha!

We had a great night-just the three of us. I can't wait to make more traditions and memories in the years to come.
Christmas morning we went to Church and heard Doug's Dad and brother sing in the choir and then headed to Nana's for lunch!

We tried to get a good picture with everyone....

Nana picture...check

Mommy picture....check

Uncle Avery picture....kind of a check....
And an Uncle Austin picture.....not really a check but it will do ha! The pictures with my brothers totally explain their relationship with Em--just a couple of ornery uncles!

Emery was a pro at passing out the gifts but kind of lost interest in unwrapping her own gifts ha!
Nana saved the best for last and it was so cute to see Emery try to unwrap it.
The wait was well worth it! Em is the proud owner of the cutest little kitchen!

Three out of the six of us took an afternoon nap (Yes...I was one of the nappers) and then ate some yummy food again. It was such a great day!

On Friday we celebrated with my Dad and grandparents-another round of delicious food and family!
Baby J #2 received his/her first gift from Gigi....I wonder if we will be using the pink of the blue....
By the end of the night Emery had to try on her Pink Camo Tutu---not all little girls have one of those ha! The girl is going to be well rounded....girly from Mommy, sports from Daddy, hunting and outdoors from Grandpa Jim and farming with Grandpa Sammy!

Last night we celebrated with all of the Jansens! Emery was a very busy girl-I think she was held by everyone, she handed out presents (to who ever she thought needed one ha) and followed the other "big" kids around the whole night. One of her favorite moments was listening to all of the kids sing Christmas songs. She clapped after each song---I think she thinks her cousins are pretty great!
We have one more Christmas to celebrate sometime this week AND New Years of course so the fun has not stopped! Today Em is catching up on sleep and this Mommy is trying to catch up on this messy house. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!

OUR CHRISTMAS ART PROJECT

I also wanted to add in pictures of our art project this year. Last year I had big dreams of being the best mommy ever. Emery was going to put her perfect little hand print on a glass ornament. YA RIGHT. We ended up just having her smear the paint all over the ornament. Kind of a hot mess ornament but the grandparents loved them (they have to). My goal this year was to just be better than last year--long gone are the hopes of being the best mom ever ha!

This year we made blue snow flake pictures. And we made a mess:)
Emery didn't get the memo that she was suppose to paint the canvas NOT her arm!
And here are the finished products! I love them (and they are way better than last year haha). Progress each year is all I ask for!

Comments

  1. Christmas traditions are great! Glad Em was able to enjoy even though she did not feel really well. The pictures are all precious. Seems so strange to see her setting so big watching the other youngsters singing Christmas songs. She sure takes everything in. She sure makes for a very merry Christmas!
