A Much Needed Kind of Weekend
You know it is going to be a good weekend when it starts off with matching pink toes. Suns out--toes out. Emery has very ticklish feet--but because Mommy had pink toes--she was going to do whatever it took to have pink toes too. I love them.
By the time Friday rolls around I am burnt out on messes and cooking supper so we decided a little Mexican and Menards would do us some good. Mexican is a favorite of ours and Menards is quickly becoming our weekend hang out spot. All the cool kids are doing it.
On the way there, this happened. Back story: Doug takes Emery to Miss Nancy's in the morning and they face the sun. For awhile I thought she might be part vampire because she acted as if she was melting in the car when the sun hit her. Easy fix--sunglasses right? Not so fast.... She would not wear them at all. Doug made it his mission to get her to wear them. Finally, on the rainy Friday, she wore them the entire time in the car. (I will mention that she thinks Doug has to wear his too...so he does). I was also surprised by something else he taught her. I got a thumbs up and a "cool dude!" These two are going to give me a run for my money!
Saturday was Shopping Day-A.K.A--Get Out of Doug's Hair So He Can Get Stuff Done Day. Nana, GiGi, Emery and I hit the road early and didn't get back until 9 that night.
This little girl was so so good. She has been a little feisty lately when we are out, but there was not one whine or cry during this big trip. I guess when you have two Grandmas doting on your every need it is easy to act like a little angel. It makes me wonder how shopping trips will go once baby boy is here. Will our trips still be just for the girls or will our little boy get used to waiting on his Mommy and Sister when they shop?
I should mention that Douglas indeed got lots done at the house. His Dad came and helped and progress was made. Maybe I should just shop more often.........
Today has been full of productivity, sunshine, and big girl stuff. Nana had the weekend off so she came to help whip this house into shape. The to-do list is endless but lots of things were marked off because we had three sets of hands instead of two.
Today was also the first meal outside of the year. I wish I could eat Doug's grilling and eat outside everyday so I was very excited about this. Food just tastes better when it is warm outside.
So far this day sounds great, right? It got even better! Emery Kayt took a two hour nap in her BIG GIRL BED!!!!!
This was not planned or on the to-do list. Doug and I had originally said we would wait until April to try switching her over to her bed but one thing led to another today and here she is. Being the best and biggest girl ever.
She slept for two hours and when I checked on her she was just laying there and then wanted me to pick her up. Just the way I was hoping she would transition. We are by no means thinking no more crib--it is actually still in her room. But tonight I think we will try out the big girl bed again. And I will cry.
So proud of you Emery Kayt. You amaze us everyday. We love you so much.
So the weekend was good. Three rooms are cleaned (which means the kitchen and front room are a disaster) but we might need to take a break and play for a little bit. Hope this week treats us as good as the weekend did.
Wow , what a big girl sleeping in her big girl bed for her nap! She never ceases to amaze!. She did look awfully small in that big bed though. Note from Gma - indeed had a wonderful shopping excursion Saturday. And indeed Emery could not have been any better, Not too unusual though she is always such a good girl. And yes I thing we will need to take baby boy with us shopping.
