A Little Weekend Recap (with lots of pictures of the littles)
We are well into our second full week at home and finally had a normal weekend. Normal as in busy and fun-a birthday party, a Father's Day party and lots of yummy food. Oh, and cuddles. Lots and lots of cuddles.
I have been loving our mornings. Emery wakes up around 8 and August likes to sleep in until around 9-which gives Em and I some much needed Mommy and mini time. We eat breakfast and watch Elmo and just talk. When August finally does wake up, after Em has checked on him yelled at him for an hour, he eats and then it is sister's time to snuggle. Emery is very loving towards Auggie and talks about him non-stop, but that is not to say that things are going perfectly smooth all the time. We are still figuring out how to divide attention and make sure both kiddos are happy. I am going to blame some of the whining and arguing on all of this rain--a toddler is not meant to be stuck inside all day!
It already looks like my blonde haired boy has Daddy's blue eyes. I hope so!
Told you she loves him. I caught her laying with him and just talking. I swear he knew her voice right from the start.
We had visitors on Thursday and Friday. Courtney totally spoiled the girl with some shades and the best gift ever....."Frozen" fruit snacks. Stole this silly girls heart!
Friday night our good friends, Kendra and Travis, along with their blondie Desmond, stopped by for supper. Desmond is two months older than August--and two months makes such a difference! He seemed like such a little boy compared to August. Em was smitten with both of them and held them like a champ! She is just getting too big too fast.
Hi August!!
Saturday was a fun day for Emery and this family's first real outing as four. And we were only about five minutes late...success!!! We had a Monsters Inc. ( Emery's FAVORITE movie) party to attend.
**Is it just me or do Em and Aug look very much alike in this picture??**
No party is complete without a pinata. Before the demolishing of Mike went down, Em held his hand and thought that was the coolest thing ever. Doug and I were worried that she would get upset when she saw kids hitting him. Wrong. Emery Kayt was the very first one to take a whack at Mike! Do kids just know what a pinata is??? After a few more hits by the big kids, we got our fair share of candy.....
and then it was off to the slide. The girl would slide day and night if we let her. Luckily we are getting our own swing set for her birthday. (Shhhh....don't tell Emery!)
August ate and slept through the party--Momma's good boy!
Emery and Doug finished the day off with a visit to the cows. They didn't know I was following them and snuck this picture. This picture is the perfect portrayal of this father-daughter relationship. Emery has Doug wrapped around her little finger-he is patient with her, proud of her and so loving towards her. Daddies are very important in a little girl's (and big girl's) life and Emery is so so lucky to have Doug. As much as I love seeing my girl and her Daddy, I cannot wait to watch the relationship between Doug and August unfold. I hope August realizes what an amazing role model he has.
Today we are celebrating Doug (and all of the Grandpas and Godfathers). These men are our rocks and our helping hands. Our laughs and our hugs. I am spoiling them with good food and their favorite dessert, Em is currently asleep (that Monster Party did her in), August is being spoiled by Gigi, and the men are hard at work putting together the swing set. (So...somehow I am the one reaping all of the benefits of today ha!) I hope everyone is having a good weekend too.
Really great day! Love all these pictures. Emery and August are so blessed to have so many Godly men in their lives as examples. Indeed Doug is all you could ask for as a daddy for these two precious little ones. I think all had a great Fathers Day.
