How to Spend Your Time When You are Busy Not Having a Baby
Emery and I have very quickly and
very easily slipped into a great summer schedule. You know--shopping, snacks, going
to bed late and sleeping in all morning. I could get used to this....Oh wait,
our worlds are about to be flipped upside down so we better not get used to it.
And that is a-okay with us. Bring on the summer of the Baby Boy!
We did discover that when you have
everything done on your checklist and you are playing the ever so fun baby
waiting game, days can go by slow. With the help of Nana being off work the
last two days, we tried to live a little. And honestly these past two days with
my girl have been so fun. I love that all it has taken are a few simple little
things to keep us entertained. Here is what we have been up to while busy NOT
having a baby:

We have taken long
baths with toys and bubbles. Emery is becoming an expert bubble blower and
kicker. And apparently she looks just like her Daddy here.
We make sure our toes
are looking good--you know, if baby were to come. A girl cannot have yucky
looking toes.
We send Daddy
pictures of his girls. Since Em has been a sleeping-in angel lately, Doug is
already at work when she gets up. Every morning the first words she says to me
are, "Daddy here yet?" Like she has been waiting for him to come wake
her up ha! I think the little one misses her Daddy squeezes in the morning. I
know he misses them. (But now I get them all so I am totally okay with this
arrangement hehe).
Yesterday we had a
picnic in the park. We were almost done playing when a 2 year old girl named
Ella showed up. No idea who she was or what her Mom's name was but Emery fell
in love with her. She followed her everywhere and talked non-stop. At one point
she told her "No, no, Ella." after she heard Ella's Mom tell her to
wait on the slide. (We can be a tad bossy). Sometimes Em can be shy out in
public but the opposite can be said about yesterday. Too funny!
Today we got extra
adventurous and went to Mattoon. I figured if labor did happen to start
Mom could drive us home quickly...and I guess they have a hospital too ha! (No
such luck....Baby is still happy on the inside). I just love the smile in this
picture. I have been blessed with such a happy girl.
This picture cracks
me up too. She would not stand still so I said put your arms down by your legs.
She proceeds to raise her arm up and never put it down. Opposite day I
guess.....
We had nothing to
shop for really bought thought a walk around the mall would be fun. I love a
big hat, to scared to actually buy one and wear one, but I always have to try
them on. Emery thought she should too!
Peek-a-boo! We
totally should have bought them because we do look fabulous.
Best part of the mall
is getting to throw (or in Emery's case, drop) pennies in the fountain. She did
NOT get the concept and proceeded to pretty much crawl into the fountain with
every penny.
We came home, napped
(yes, we allll napped) and then decided to play in the sprinkler. This face
says it all.
And so do these
faces. (I cannot believe I am putting this picture of me on here. Oh well....it
isn't everyday you get to see an almost 40 week pregnant lady run through a
Hello Kitty sprinkler).
These pictures might
seem pretty dull, but these have been the best days. We finish our evenings
with supper with Daddy, jammies and a mooobie (movie) and then we wake up and
start all over. I am trying to squeeze in more kisses and Em cuddles and I
honestly think she senses that this is what I need because she is happy to sit
on my lap or sneak a kiss. I love my big-little girl and cannot wait to see
what the rest of the summer has up it's sleeve.
Looks like a wonderful happy mommy, Em couple of days. So glad you are able to be off during the summer and spend this precious time with Em and soon to be baby boy. Love the pictures. Hats look real cute.
