Our 4th of July Fun
I am a lover of all holidays, but there is just something about the 4th of July. Warm weather, friends, grilling, fireworks--everything about the day is so fun and that is exactly what I wanted our weekend to consist of. We packed lots of experinces into just two days--here is our weekend in pictures.
Warning: Red, white and cute overload!

Emery was too little to really enjoy the 4th last year and was scared of fireworks so we have been talking it up big for this year. We wanted our little firecracker to enjoy every part of the holiday.
Friday night we had a few friends over. We grilled, played and had fun with sparklers, little fireworks and Em's favorite, poppers. The girl was fearless with all of it--yay! I love the picture our friend Ammon took with her and Doug holding a sparkler--it perfectly captures the 4th of July through a little ones eyes--amazement and excitement all in one. Emery had that same smile for most of Saturday too.
Saturday we got dressed in our best red, white and blue and headed out the door for a jam-packed day. (August didn't really cooperate for the sibling picture, but Emery's smile is on point).
Our littlest fire cracker:)
With Aunt Kaci along for the ride, our first stop was our friends, Eric and Sharon's house.
Em played, we girl talked, Auggie slept and I am not exactly sure what Doug did....boy stuff I guess...
Love her.
It was great to see my girls--we don't get together near enough. I cherish our bond and love that my daughter has such wonderful role models in her life.
Our second event of the day was the parade--Nana joined us for that. Life is so much easier with an extra set of cuddly arms:)
We debated on going to the parade (Em had hardly napped) but I am so so glad we did.
The big girl loved it.
See....look at that smile!!
Emery was the cutest little parade spectator--she waved the entire time and got the hang of picking up candy. I just hope she doesn't think that we run out in the road and eat things off the street now.....ha!
Our third and final event for the day was playing at the big playground and seeing fireworks with some family and friends. Emery would probably say the highlight of the entire day would be the big slide. Seriously. The girl loves a slide. She stopped and looked at about two fireworks then ran around sliding the rest of the night. Whatever-- I wanted her to be happy and she was the happiest.
Emery Kayt went to bed talking about everyone and everything that she saw that day. And then we ALL slept haha.
The perfect 4th of July. Hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend too!
Sounds like a good time was had by all. Good to see Emery enjoying the day. Looks like August was pretty content which makes for a good day also. Would love to have heard Emery's recap of the day at bedtime.
