Personal Day

I took a personal day today and it is a good thing I did. We had a big weekend filled with visitors, a party and fun at the park. It also had a lot of staying up late and kiddos waking up early. August was grouchy this past week and we blamed teeth. Because that is just what you do when you have a baby. Now Em is on day three of not eating (which is very unlike her) and she got sick once Saturday night. So now I am wondering if maybe Auggie had a touch of a stomach bug and passed it on to Big Sister. So ya....I am thankful that I am sitting on the couch in my pjs at 11 am on this rainy Monday.
The whole week seemed kind of rainy. One evening Emery and I did a little singing in the rain--we had to try out her new umbrella! It worked and we got a weird look from neighbors driving past.....
It might have been cloudy outside but this man did bring the sunshine inside....just look at those cute little teeth!! He was one extreme to the next this past week. Screaming mad and giggling happy. Drinking 1 oz for breakfast and eating two plates of green beans and noodles for supper. Who knows.
Friday was a special day for Emery Kayt...her first field trip!!!
And plumber Auggie had a good day too ha! His first day of just him and Nana. He was spoiled and she was worn out.....
Nancy took the big kids to see Anna and Elsa and Monster Trucks....interesting combination, right? Emery told me she held the princesses' hands, didn't like Batman because he was scary and that the bounce house was not her favorite either.
But the pizza party at the park was right up her ally! Two of her favorite things. Nancy is so sweet (and brave) to take all the kids out to something she knew they would love.
After all the fun it was time to accomplish some quick cleaning because guests were arriving Saturday. Doug and I have learned that we need to throw a party about once a month because it makes us actually clean the house....
We also learned that Auggie thinks he can do stairs. (I will also mention that I caught him trying to climb up the floor to ceiling book shelves in the front room. Grey hairs or stitches are in my near future I think....)
My old college roommates finally made the trip down. I say finally because I think we have planned this trip every year since college. We realized that we hadn't seen them in over three years. They got to meet Em and Aug and even brought them gifts--they figured they had missed a few birthdays ha! They brought Doug and I some Chicago glasses (and tequila) and gave Auggie a Chicago book....thought they would bring a little city to the south! We left Doug at home with the kids to prep for the party and shared a bottle at the winery. The rain had stopped by then and it felt good to reminisce and laugh with them again.
That night we had a house full. I only took one picture--the girls and Auggie playing with princesses. His buddies were under the weather so hopefully he isn't so outnumbered next time. We ate too much and stayed up too late playing cards.
Bright and early Sunday morning we took them where you have to take anyone who visits....Niemergs! August was pumpeddddd for his waffle and eggs. This is him squealing and dancing. The healthy Bud was back!
We got some naps in and headed to the park. (Okay. I got a two hour nap in and that was really all I cared about. Not sure if anyone else slept hehe....thanks Douglas!)
Auggie Boy took in all of the sights and sounds and did some swinging.
Miss Em went down the highest slide she could find about a thousand times. Its so interesting to me that she is scared of some things (bounce house...falling off of her bed...) and yet she doesn't bat an eye at the highest/fastest slide in the park. I got a lot of  "Don't catch me, Mom!!"
Okay Em....just be careful please.
This has been our morning. I think it is a combination of partying hard, the park and this weird bug she has.....
So we are going to hydrate (yes....that is how Auggie drinks from his sippy.....) and cuddle and play with princesses today. I am going to enjoy my pj personal day.
