Taking It Easy & The To-Do List

After our wreck last week (p.s. thank you all for the prayers and love) we have been taking it pretty easy and healing. Well really kiddos were back to their crazy selves that night, but I have taken a tad bit longer. Really it felt good to just be home and have no plans for a few days. We stayed home all weekend too and with lots of help checked a few big things off the to-do list.
We spent the day after the wreck pretty much on the couch but were a little stir crazy by supper time. Nana had pampered us all day and decided she would also treat us to supper. We tested out the new rental (it is fancy) and drove to Casey to eat pizza. And you can't go to Casey without seeing all the big stuff so that is what we did.
I don't know what we would have done without Grandpa Sammy, Grandma Susie or Nana last week. We were in good hands!
Thursday was another lazy day for the kids and I. It was back to work for poor Douglas. Gary and Julie came for a visit that evening and brought with them the best dress up toys ever. Can't you see my two boys loving these in a couple of years?? I also might just have Auggie wear one of these everyday for precaution.
Friday Em got invited to go to the movies with Aunt Vicki, Grandma Susie and lots of cousins. Aug was invited too....but he and I had a Wal-Mart date instead. Wouldn't want to put Aunt Vicki or Grandma through that ha! After naps we decided it was time to swim. Five minutes later Mother Nature thought otherwise. It was a steady rain with the sun still peaking through so the kids and I just stayed out in it. Amazingly enough, Auggie liked it the most. The kid who hates any type of sprinkle.
That evening, Grandpa Jim came over and the boys (Auggie was a major help) started on bunk beds. In no time they had two sides done. My fingers were crossed that we could finish them during the weekend but I already had a lot on our to-do list....
Family to the rescue! Gigi, Uncle Austin, Dee Dee and Alayna came over and just dominated. Kids played (well the girls did. Auggie just followed them around and we had to remind them many times to let Auggie play with them), Dee Dee and Gigi painted edges and Uncle Austin painted, fixed the mower, mowed and helped Doug with the beds. I just barked orders. Which is what I am best at.
The girls are going to kill me someday for this one but I have to.
Dee Dee put it best: Friends that swim together, pee together!
And here they are folks, the almost finished product (and the little boy that wants to sleep in them really bad.) They need a few coats of poly-something, different bolts and the bed slats. The tan room is now the gray room and I have every decoration not so patiently waiting to be hung. Our goal is for kids to maybe sleep in them Thursday and to have the room done by Sunday.
We shall see.....
Sunday was paint day. Doug painted, Nana painted, I painted, Emery painted...even Auggie painted. Until we looked away for a second and realized he had painted all over the outside of the garage door. Any body out there know how to get primer off of wood garage doors?
We finally all jumped in the pool (too cool off/scrub off paint) right before supper.
Then it was treat time. We deserved it.
Yesterday kicked off Em's Birthday Week and the shopping trip originally planned for last week, happened. Its kind of tricky buying presents when the birthday girl is watching your every move, but we did good. We also got material for Baby Boy's bedding and an outfit that might just qualify for his "Coming Home" outfit. All these rooms changes have me realizing Baby Boy will be here before we know it!
Auggie Boy is never invited on Champaign trips. Instead he got to play the day away at Aunt Vicki's. All evening he told me about sliding and the park and minions and muffins. All of his favorite things!

This week will bring us lots of fun (but at some point I have got to put my house back together) and one of my happiest days of the year is on Sunday.

Have a safe and happy week everyone!
