First Annual Illini Baseball Fun

We don't sit still very well. Especially on weekends. Especially on weekends with absolutely perfect weather. I had been eyeing the weather for this past Sunday, sunny and in the 70s, all week. After many days of dreary rain, I knew we couldn't waste a day like that. Douglas must have been thinking the same thing too because I got a text late in the week wondering if we should adventure up to Champaign to an Illini baseball game. We had talked about going to one for years--they are free, not to far and combine two of Auggie's favorite things, baseball and the Illini. I was sold. A few texts later and so were a whole group of friends!
So when Sunday came we put on our best orange and blue and headed north. (I had to bribe Auggie into wearing khaki shorts instead of baseball pants and cleats. Aug, we are watching baseball, not playing it.)
100% sure Auggie didn't stop talking on the way up. Just so excited! He gets to play t-ball with Emery this year and the boy might not be able to wait until June. My problem will be holding B back....he is equally obsessed.
We arrived early to do a little tail-gaiting with friends. This year was a trial-run...next year we can really do it up right! There was so much room for the kids to run and play. Actually Em said running and climbing trees was her favorite part of the day. Bennett roamed around (we only lost him once) and ate off of every single plate he came across. So he clearly had a great time too.
When it was game time we all sat front row. Ready to cheer on the Illini!
Exactly one inning later all of the moms were back out at the tailgate with the kids. It was great while it lasted haha. The set up was actually perfect for us to be able to come and go and again the game was free....so no loss there! The men watched the game and the ladies got to visit (and chase the kids a little).  It was fun to day dream about what fun days will look like as all of our babies grow up. Perfect Sunday afternoon.
We all made an appearence back in the stands for the 9th inning (only because kids got to run the bases after the game.)
This picture makes me laugh. Perfect little prance and a big ol' smile. That's Emery Kayt.
Aug took the base running very seriously and moved those skinny little legs of his. After running he let me know that he could have ran faster if I had let him wear his cleats and that he indeed would wear them next time.
Bennett Lee was really our favorite to watch run. He was very slow but very determined and very very happy.
We had such a great day at the ballpark.
Sunshine, friends, free fun (and you know I love any opportunity for my whole family to match.)

Good idea Douglas. Lets do it again sometime!
