'Tis the Season
'Tis the season to be....actually I can think of a lot of words to go here instead of jolly.
Our short list would be busy and under the weather. Probably the same as everyone else's this time of year. But I refuse to let runny noses and running around steal our joy during the most wonderful time of the year. Jansens are going to be jolly; we have lots of reasons to be!
Bennett Lee might have a fever and a forever runny nose right now, but he checked out perfect at a recent audiologist and ENT visit. While he has made leaps and bounds since the summer in speech, his speech therapist and doctor thought it was time to check into anything medically that might be interfering with his progress. Bennett loved being the center of attention for the afternoon and loved the doctor--as in signed and asked for "more doctor" when Dr. Smith left the room. He also made the audiologist fall in love with him. He has this way about him...I think its the dimple. B ended up passing everything with flying colors, and the doctor told us we had the healthiest boy he had ever seen. While Doug and I were kind of going into this hoping we would find an easy fix that would help him in speech, we are relieved and so thankful to know all is perfect with our Bennett Lee.
I just made it through one of my busiest weeks of school, Homecoming. The crazy week ended with the dance Saturday night and I had the best date there. After I asked him to Homecoming, I was reminded that this was not the first time I had asked him to Homecoming. 14 years ago I asked him. Very very thankful he said yes back then (and this year too).
Last weekend I got to celebrate one of my best friends, Sharon, and her sweet baby TWINS! These babies, baby boy and baby girl, are answered prayers, and I would be lying if I said I did shout for joy when she unveiled their genders at the shower. I also think Shar is the prettiest pregnant women I have ever seen. Definition of glowing. These ladies mean the world to me and it was good to see them.
This little lady got to tag along. She made the sweetest card that celebrated Ian and Madison too. Our butterflies.
August Samuel kicked off our Christmas celebrations on Friday with his school program. He started the morning off early with me at school and then we had a coffee date. Here he is being unbelievably handsome and cooler than me.
He was a puppy that lived in the stable that baby Jesus was born in; he brought in the hay for the manger. He sang loudly with a smile on his face, and he made this Momma tear up. I'm mush when it comes to my kids doing really anything. Mush.
Aug had quite the fan club including probably his biggest fan, Emery. These two are buds.
Thank you Nana for coming!
Thank you Grandpa Jim and Papa for coming!
Thank you Grandpa and Grandma for coming!
And thank you Miss Kourtney for loving our boy so much and for starting a fire in him for school.
Even though we are all under the weather this weekend, it has been a good one. Saturday we wrapped a few presents; Em was my little helper. She wrote on all of the gift tags except for the present from Auggie to Miss Kourtney, he needed to do that one. I had to capture their sweet handwriting. I have this thing about handwriting. While I hate my own, I have always loved my mother's and my Grandma's. I have things handwritten by them that I will cherish forever. I decided I never want Em and Aug's to change from this right here.
This evening we decided to brave the snow and went to see Santa. Nana joined in for the fun.
Emery asked for a science kit and Pretty Pretty Princess (flashback to my childhood).
Auggie was very specific. He asked for a Colossal Crash (hot wheels track) and a Nerf Ultra One (nerf gun).
Bennett Lee asked for absolutely nothing. This is exactly how I thought this was going to go.
We are warm and cozy by the Christmas tree now. Thinking a Christmas movie and an early bedtime sounds like the perfect way to end the weekend. (I will also be busy checking the weather....snow day tomorrow?)
Staying healthy and happy this week and then bring on Christmas and the New Year!
'Tis the season!
