Bennett Lee is Three!!

 Bennett Lee is officially Three!!

Well, not officially. His real birthday is two weeks away....but don't tell him that.

With a baby due the day after the official birthday and a boy who has been patiently waiting since the summer to have his very own special day, you plan ahead and change the date. B will never know.

And it was totally worth it. He had the very best day.

Bennett really has been asking when his birthday is since we celebrated Auggie back in June. He of course doesn't remember his first birthday and last year we did a combo birthday with Alayna; it was definitely time to give B his very own day. His excitement was electric and contagious from the moment his little dirty feet hit the floor. We started the morning off with cinnamon rolls and the first round of "Happy Birthday" for the day. 

He has also been asking for a "Puppy Birthday" since June. I think he thought he would get a real puppy out of the deal. We decided to go big and have a full meal for his birthday. We were blessed with a warm yet beautiful day and a house or should I say yard full of our favorites.

If anything sums up Bennett on his birthday it is this picture. He had to have a bath before guests arrived, but I didn't want to put clothes on him until the very last second. So birthday hat and almost birthday suit it was. He ran around all morning like this buzzing with excitement. Oh to be three.

Every time a person pulled into our drive, he ran out to meet them and asked if they had brought him a present. He methodically opened each one.

And every single present got a reaction similar to this picture. I wish you could hear his excitement. Along with a smile bigger than him, there were "Ohhhhs, Ahhhhhs and Oh Yays!" to match every second. And everyone got a great big thank you at the end. It was so fun watching him.

His puppy cake (that might look more bear than pup) was a hit, and I can now say that I have finally made my Bennett Lee his very own birthday cake. The rest of the afternoon the kids played and played while the adults chased the shade and visited. It was just a really good day.

Guest had not been gone for five minutes before B was asleep (in his new "sweeping" bag of course). I wonder if he dreamt about his day. Puppies and presents. Puppies and presents.

We are so glad we celebrated Bennett early this year. He brings so much joy to our lives; it felt good to give him a little back. And while we have two more weeks until he is actually three, our Baby Bennett doesn't feel like a baby anymore. He is growing up to be so smart, so spunky and so sweet. What a fun year this will be.
