Bennett Lee || Six Years Old

Bennett Lee...today you are six years old!

Today is the day you have been waiting for since last October 26th. Honestly, I am starting to wonder if your birthday is your favorite day out of the whole year. At our house, you are the first to give up the toy, the first to wear hand-me-downs, the first to not get their way, the first to get left out of fun. You are the third, the middle boy, the tag-a-long little brother, the last birthday of the year. Very rarely is all the attention on you. But not today. Today we hope that you feel so much love. So much gratefulness for the blessing that you are to our lives!

As I was thinking about all of the reasons we love you, I realized they all related back to the same theme: how big you love. But then I realized you do everything BIG. You go at life 110%. In everything you do, you give it your all. You wake up with a smile (and something to say) and go a million miles an hour until bedtime where we are forced to say "no more talking" (and turn off the light while you are still talking). There is no such thing as downtime, little effort, or low energy. You are all in. 

You are obsessed with obsessions. Right now it is collecting bird feathers. You have feathers of all shapes and sizes-tiny fuzzy feathers, a cardinal feather, a turkey feather, even a peacock feather. You store them in a shoe box and check on them daily; your obsession has friends and family looking for feathers too. You seem to rub off on those around you. You love puzzles, airplanes, being barefoot outside, building things, and talking. Somedays you say you want to be an architect, other days it is still a pilot. No matter where life takes you, I am already confident that you will do something great and do it greatly. 

You love to love on others. You pride yourself on being a gentleman. If you don't get to hold the door for us or strangers, your day is ruined. You are the first to say something sweet or to give a compliment. You have a tender heart and it gets hurt easily. Out of your siblings, you are the only one that will happily still cuddle, hug or kiss me good night. Actually, your feelings get hurt if a kiss is missed-I need to do a better job of loving on you, B. 

You work hard. Whether it is riding your bike, playing a sport, building a tower, trying to read, working on your speech--you give it your all! You are competitive with yourself and others. You hate to lose. You have no fear. These characteristics make you fun to watch and fun to work with. They also make you a bit of a hot mess. You are often hurt, always dirty, and never still. But we would not want you any other way.

Bennett means blessing and that is what you are. You love us 110% and we hope you feel that same amount of love today. Your day. Your 6th birthday!
