A Week of Red, White and Blue!
July is here and we welcomed it in full red-white-and-blue style this week! The week was dedicated to Em wearing only her American colors, boating on the lake, and baseball......pretty darn American right!?!
The week started off with something we have been waiting for forever......A TOOTH! Write that down in the baby book people--Emery Kayt got her first tooth on June 30th. I had just come to the conclusion that I was going to save a lot on dentistry over the future years to come because she simply was not getting any teeth. We are going to miss that gummy grin (that is still veryyyy gummy) but I already love her little tooth:)
This week's weather seemed to be made for boating and we were able to go out on the lake twice. Emery doesn't mind the boating part but she HATES her life jacket. She completely gives up on life and becomes a a wobbly, whinny mess. It is pretty cute:)
Oh well, it is fun and refreshing while the ride lasts!
This is the dress that I bought my baby bump last July just knowing Baby J would make her appearance in time to wear it---mother's intuition. Boy was I wrong! Two weeks later (and very much worth the wait) Emery Kayt came into our lives. Flash forward to a year later and this little dress was sadly a little too tight to wear all day as a shirt ha! So much love, laughter, growing and learning have been had since I bought this dress. Even though she wore it for all of five minutes it was soo worth the money....I just love it's story.
On the actual 4th we went to the Casey parade with my family. I grew up going to this parade every 4th so it meant a lot to me (and my Dad and Grandparents) that we got to go. Avery was a total Emery Hog (and probably snuck her candy) so I know she enjoyed the parade.
Family pictures are few and far between these days so this is as good as we could do. I like this picture though.....can you tell that I kind of like these two a little:)
The above ornery face is of a little girl excited to be riding the metro to her first Cardinal's game. Nana received tickets to Saturday's game so the three of us, Nana, Uncle Austin, Dora and Heath headed to St. Louis and crossed our fingers that it wouldn't be too hot and that a certain baby would take a nap ha!
Of course no nap was had on the way there and it did get a little warm at the beginning of the game, but in the end it was very much a success! Emery busied herself people watching (aka being nosy), drinking D's lemonade and flirting with the 10 year old boys sitting behind us. We are so glad we took her!
Around the top of the 3rd, Em did cuddle up to Heath and took a much needed and very sweaty little nap. A girl can only sleep through so much cheering and "Beer Here" yells, so she finished up the game with more lemonade and high fives with the 10 yr olds:)
Emery made up for the 4th family picture with this one--all smiles and all looking in the same direction--how lucky can a Mommy get!?!
I love weeks like this. Lots of firsts and lots of fun---I hope there are many (many many many many) of these ahead for us:)
Hope you had a great week too!
Loved celebrating the 4th of July week with Emery. All of the firsts with her are so special. Look out next week for Birthday Week!!! Nana loves this Girl :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to spend the 4th of July with you all to watch the parade and to carry on the tradition of doing so with little Em. She was adorable in her red, white and blue outfit. Glad she had another American tradition of watching baseball. Hope she had some ice cream or watermelon to finish off the traditional 4th of July. Of course being with all her family was the best!
