Mother's Day Weekend 2016

This weekend wasn't anything fancy. No big surprises or events. But I was loved on by my littles and got to spend time with most of my favorite Mothers....if only a few other friends lived a little closer, I would have seen them all!

First up was Sharon. We got to see Shar on Friday night and spent our time at the ball park. She took pictures of Auggie for his first birthday (GASP.....which is in ONE month.) She snuck in some Em pictures too. Daddy's bat, Daddy's glove, Daddy's old stomping grounds, Daddy's girl....I see a Father's Day gift in the making hehe. I am so excited to see these pictures and will love remembering that Sharon took them. I know Aug holds a special little place in her heart so I am very thankful that they got to share this moment together. I am sure this blog will have an Auggie-overload next month with the pictures she took!
Saturday I did some errand running and came home to a wonderful Mother's Day gift display! Yes...that is a box fan you see there. Every Mom's dream! (Now that I think about it....we do get sweaty and sometimes need something to drown out all of the noise....) The real reason for the fan is the fact that I cannot sleep without noise and ours stopped working a few months ago and I have been whining about it ever since. Em picked out my Minnie Mouse card and flowers and had some guidance in picking me out a necklace and earrings (without Doug's guidance it sounds like I would have received a Shopkins watch. Which I totally could have pulled off). Honestly the best part about receiving gifts is how excited Emery is to give them. She loved it, so I loved it. And Auggie....ummm...I think he was asleep. Which was his Mother's Day gift to me.
Thank you so much for spoiling me Doug, Emery and August!!

Saturday night Douglas went to our niece's graduation (Shout out, Tara....Congrats!!) so I invited the kids and I over for supper at Gigi and Papas. I knew they couldn't say no! We raced the storm to Hidalgo and enjoyed supper with Grandpa Jim and Melissa too. Em surprised Gigi with a card and flower and we enjoyed being spoiled by her. I mean....we are the favorite grand-daughters hehe! My G'ma has always been one of my favorite people. A woman with the kindest heart. I feel lucky to have been loved by that heart! We stayed out too late and I was hoping I could sneak in quietly, lay Auggie down and get Em in to bed quickly.
Instead we came home to no electricity which totally threw off that plan. Auggie didn't love the dark at first but Emery thought being in charge of a flashlight was the best. She just didn't understand why I didn't think she should shine it right in her brother's face ha! We lit the one candle I could find and I rocked  a sweaty Auggie to sleep with sounds of the chirping frogs outside. Emery declared that she was not going to bed until Daddy fixed the lights. Plus the froggies were too loud and would wake her up! Whatever, Em. She ended up falling asleep on the couch and I carried her back to bed as the electricity came back on. Good thing too....because I really wanted to try out my new box fan!
The kids slept in Sunday morning. Cheapest gift and best gift. We were able to get ready and out the door to church with time to spare which always makes me a happy Mom! I snapped this pic on the way and it melts my heart. My babies loveeeee each other. August watches Emery's every move and she is a little Mother-hen to him. Always patting him on the head, feeding him, talking to him in this sing-song high-pitched Mom-voice. I just love it. I also love the next minute when she walks into the room frustrated and says she doesn't want Auggie to play with her anymore. She is the bossy big sister and he is the pestering little brother. These roles feel oddly familiar ha!
We went to church out in Grove so we could wish two of our favorite Grandmothers a happy day--Grandma Angie and Grandma Susie! Not much makes Emery happier than to go to Grandma Susie's house. I feel so incredibly lucky that this is the case. She loves my two so, so much and I know she would do anything for Doug and I. I also loved seeing Auggie reach for Grandma Angie in church. He played with her cane, her hair, her sweater. Angela is an amazing Mother and Grandmother and I can only hope to be like her someday. Again, my kids hit the jackpot when it came to Grandmas.
We didn't visit for long because we had to get home and get ready for the rest of our favorite Mothers! Nana was up next. Nana spoils us rotten (me included) and I am not sure how we would make it without her. I just love the Grandmother she has become. I don't know if she knew she could love this big! Nana helped us pick up the house and make a few dishes for supper. We wanted to treat Aunt Linda and Dora to supper and of course being the great cooks that they are, they treated us instead! I am so glad I could to spend the evening with these two. I hope they know how special they are to me and my littles.
We made RIBS and lots of other yumminess. The boys came over too. We ate too much. The kids played too late. A great night was had by all.
I loved the whole weekend. I got lots of  "Happy Muver's Day" and sloppy kisses. I got to tell other women in my life Happy Mother's Day and I hope they know that I really meant it. I am blessed beyond and very thankful to be among those women and to be a Mommy...especially to these two.
Mother's Day 2014, 2015 and 2016. Lots of wonderful changes. Lots of big smiles and so much love that it hurts!
