That Went By Fast
The slow days of summer, you know--the ones where weekdays run into weekends and you never really know what day it is--yeah...those must have made me forget how quickly the weeks go by during the school year. Wasn't it just Monday...and now it is Monday again?!?!
By Thursday of this past week Em was an old pro at this school thing. Still only talks and plays with one kid according to her. She says she will get more friends when she gets bigger. I guess I am glad she has him as kind of a security blanket. I love soaking in her excitement about the day. They must be coloring quite a bit because she had a lot to say about "fwibbleing."
Em: Mom, you are NOT suppose to fwibble. Fwibbleing is really bad.
Me: What happens if you scribble?
Em: You get a thumbs down *shows me her thumbs down*
Me: What do you get at school?
Em: THUMBS UP. *Looks at me like I am crazy for not knowing this*
Happy to know I am not raising a fwibbleer.
Auggie Boy was BEAT by Friday. For some reason a kid fighting sleep cracks me up. He would try so hard and you could just see his eye lids getting heavier and heavier then he would wake himself up and would do this slow smile as if he were trying to convince us that he had been awake the whole time. Poor kid. Bedtime came early.
We got to spend the day at Uncle Terry's on Saturday. We were there to babysit but really the kids just played and Doug and I just happened to be there too. Emery LOVES Terry and Kim's kiddos so she had a blast.
Aug had a blast following. He was sound asleep before we got home and didn't make a peep all night.
This picture is more for me. A moment I want to remember. I don't necessarily like waking up early (especially on weekends). Over the years the term of sleeping in has changed drastically. 10 or later used to be sleeping in--now 8 makes me feel like a new woman. Lots of times on weekends Doug will get up with the kids and I will catch an hour more. Em is always up first at our house and she is not a cuddle kid--she wants a movie on, maybe some milk and for you to leave her alone. On those rare mornings that Auggie wakes up first I don't mind at all to get up because he is such a lover. Such a Momma's boy. This is the only time he will sit still on my lap. We will kiss and kiss and giggle and talk. He shares his milk with me and brings me books.
Early mornings aren't so bad, I guess.
The plan was to take Sunday pretty easy. I got laundry done early and nothing else was on the agenda except naps. After Em took a two hour nap and Auggie stretched his to over three hours, I knew we needed to get out of the house and use up all that nap energy. Park Time!
I think Emery would live at the park if we let her. She always has loved it.
Auggie loves it too...but he just falls down a lot and eats every nut he finds. Not as fun.
We packed up to leave and Emery announced that it was time to get ice cream. We decided we liked the way she thought ha!
So ice cream for supper for everyone. I have some healthy meals planned for the week to balance us out. That's the way it works, right?
With this beautiful weather, Homewood was the perfect spot. We braved it without a stroller or seat for Auggie which really just meant that he and I got ridiculously sticky. We needed baths anyway.
A long bath, a little bit of Doc McStuffins and lots of good night kisses and our weekend was complete.
Looking forward to a good week. Hoping a great week is in store for everyone!
